Hogg & Nevills Electric is committed to serving our community by supporting minor league hockey, lacrosse, and soccer teams in Caledon and Orangeville. We are also proud to support Headwaters Health Centre, Caledon Council Community Golf Tournament, Family Transition Place, and Bethel House. Our company has also been host to golf tournament benefits, with proceeds going to Scouting and Girl Guides, Mayfield High School Sports, and the Cancer Society.
Since forming Hogg & Nevills Electric, we have retained our excellent staff members, who have now become familiar faces in the area. These employees are a valued asset to our customers with their electrical systems knowledge and skilful installations. We employ a staff of 10 journeymen electricians, apprentices, an electrical engineering technologist, and a PLC programmer. We also keep a registered nurse on staff to tend to the health and safety needs of our electricians and employees.
As “hands-on” owners of Hogg & Nevills, Garry and Mark remain committed to the service expertise we’ve become known for since 1959. As a family-owned business, we are lucky to have Shelly Nevills and Alina Hogg managing the front office. We look forward to seeing a third generation of Hoggs contribute to the team with the addition of Alex Hogg. Alex is a graduate of Conestoga Electrical Engineering Technology, and is a valued part of our company through his expertise in electrical automation.
Our experience has not gone unrecognized by our peers, and we’ve received an ESA Authorized Contractor Designation of “CALL 1036”. With the ESA designation, we have been pre-approved to handle installations for residential, commercial, and industrial clients, as well as high voltage installations and substation maintenance.
The history of Hogg & Nevills Electric began in 1959 with our founder, Douglas Hogg. Starting off with just a team of three, we provided basic electrical wiring services to the area’s homeowners and farmers.
In 1966, we settled into what is now our present location at 12615 McLaughlin Road, in the town of Caledon, within the Region of Peel. From this spot, we formed friendships and relationships with customers we would go on to serve for many years.
In 1973, Douglas’ son, Garry Hogg, returned to our family-owned business after completing his apprenticeship and receiving a degree in Business Administration from York University. With the reunion of Douglas and Garry
1979 saw the formation of G.D. Hogg Electric Ltd and the purchase of additional equipment, including a bucket truck, pole truck, trencher, and backhoe. As demand for our services grew, so too did our staff; the addition of 5 workers brought our company to a total of 8 employees. With our expanded staff and operational abilities, we began serving commercial and industrial facilities, as well as sporting grounds and lighting installations for parking lots.
In 1994, Douglas Hogg hung up his hat, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service to the Caledon area. Along with his wife Alina, Garry took the helm to lead the company towards the future. Four years later, Garry and longtime employee Mark Nevills formed the current company of Hogg & Nevills Electric.
During the first decade of the new millennium, Hogg and Nevills Electric expanded their industrial services by designing, building, and installing the electrical systems for 8 concrete batching plants.
